I had heard strong early buzz from 21 Jump Street planning, but I ultimately wasn?t astounded by any of the marketing.  However, I became intrigued that Jonah Hill co-wrote the screenplay, and it was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directing duo behind the surprisingly charming animated film Cloudy with a Prospects for Meatballs.  And much like the duo?s previous film, Watch 21 Jump Street Online really surprised me; it?s on the list of strongest comedies of the year so far.
 
The film relies away from the 1980s TV series, and it follows two young cops (Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum), who definitely are put on bike patrol duty at a park lake.  After a go in an arrest gone horribly wrong, the 2 they fit right into a program where they go undercover into a senior high school, dressed as kids, to find the way to obtain a well known new drug.
 
The best a part of 21 Jump Street could be the buddy cop dynamic between Hill and Tatum.  They have polar opposite characters, that they can each portray well, when they clash, it?s comedic gold.  Their chemistry is great, and banter made me laugh aloud a couple of times.
 
Much of the film?s humor utilizes swearing and profanity, which I usually think is lazy.  However, the dialogue and also the actors? deliveries really market it here.  Other jokes spend playtime with modern action movie clich?s, along with the audience?s thought of how they think certain moments may play out.
 
There?s another fantastic reveal, i always should not spoil.  The less said about this, the higher quality, but this scene surprised the full audience inside my screening, myself included, causing them to rip up into applause.
 
There are a few flaws with the film, but they also were expected.  The plot is formulaic and typical, because of the standards of recent comedy movies.  Also, as ridiculous since the plot is, certain moments with characters really stretched credibility, together with a subplot love story with Jonah Hill.  This really detracted in the remaining portion of the film?s creativity.
 
Overall, 21 Jump Street is probably the many surprises we?ve been on their early months of 2012, and it?s sure to please audiences that are keen on the R-rated make of humor they?ve arrive at love from Jonah Hill.
